About the Role

Ardmore & Co. is seeking an independent contractor to take over candle production for our brand. This is a part-time, home-based production role ideal for someone detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to maintain consistent quality and output.

Key Details

• Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor
• Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week to start, increasing to 20–30 hours per week during peak holiday season (November–December)
• Location: Remote / home-based — candidate must have a dedicated production space of 100–200 sq ft in their home
• Schedule: Flexible, with agreed-upon production deadlines to meet order and inventory needs

Responsibilities

• Produce candles according to Ardmore & Co.'s formulas, custom engraving, scent profiles, and quality standards
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe home production space
• Track inventory of wax, fragrance oils, wicks, containers, and packaging supplies, and communicate restocking needs to Ardmore & Co.
• Track production quantities and meet agreed-upon output targets, with increased output expected during November–December peak season
• Perform quality control checks (proper cure time, consistent pour, appearance, scent throw, etc.)
• Package and prepare finished candles for shipment or pickup per instructions
• Communicate proactively about supply needs, timeline issues, or production concerns

Requirements

• Dedicated home production space (100–200 sq ft) with proper ventilation and safety setup for candle-making & candle engraving with UV laser
• Prior candle-making experience preferred (soy, coconut wax blends, or similar)
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively to meet weekly production goals
• Ability to accommodate increased hours (20–30/week) during the November–December holiday season
• Understanding of basic safety practices (fire/laser safety, proper ventilation, fragrance oil handling)
• Must possess own laptop
• Must be able to work as an independent contractor (responsible for own taxes)

What Ardmore & Co. Provides

• All equipment (melting pots/wax melters, thermometers, scales, molds, UV laser engraver, printer, etc.)
• All supplies (wax, fragrance oils, wicks, containers, packaging materials)

Compensation

• $22/hour, paid as a 1099 contractor
• No tax withholding — contractor is responsible for self-employment taxes
• This role offers the opportunity to grow with Ardmore & Co. as the brand scales, with potential for increased hours, responsibility, or scope over time
